Some events I'm helping organize:
On April 12, 2025 Cornell Philosophy will be hosting another Central New York Workshop in Modern Philosophy, sponsored by the Mellon Foundation/Central NY Humanities Corridor, on the topic of women philosophers. Speakers include Karen Detlefsen, Lauren Kopajtic, Karin Nisenbaum, and Reed Winegar. The event is free and open to the public.
Justin Steinberg and I started up the Cornell Modern Philosophy Roundtable (CAMPeR) this fall. Our first guest this year was Alison Simmons (Harvard), on Oct. 18, speaking on Descartes. Don Garrett (NYU) will visit us on April 18th, and Tad Schmaltz (Michigan) will give a talk on Spinoza on April 28th. Throughout the year, we're also running a grad/faculty reading group: in the fall we read Ann Conway's Principles and this term we're reading Mary Shepherd.
